On Tuesday morning, just a day after Echesa and his co-accused were released on a Ksh. 1 million bail, reports that the main investigator in the case had apparently been found dead began doing rounds online.

According to an excerpt of the viral blog post from timeslive.co.ke, the body of one Roman Musyoki – who it reports to have been the lead sleuth from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) squad that has been piecing together evidence about the rogue deal – was found dumped in Kikuyu along Waiyaki Way.
The post added that the detective’s body showed signs of having been “badly torched” before he was murdered over his supposed access to crucial, incriminating information about Mr. Echesa’s involvment in the scandal.
